NATIONAL GRANTS MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES PUBLICATION OF THE GRANTS MANAGEMENT BODY OF KNOWLEDGE (GMBoK) GUIDE

WASHINGTON (January 9, 2018) – The National Grants Management Association (NGMA) today announced the publication of the Grants Management Body of Knowledge (GMBoK) Guide. Produced and prepared by NGMA, recognized as the leading grants management membership association, and Kforce Government Solutions, Inc. (KGS), a provider of management and technology solutions to the federal government, the GMBoK Guide provides grants management professionals with a comprehensive resource to help navigate the field of grants management.

The GMBoK Guide provides an in-depth understanding of the grants management lifecycle, from pre-award to closeout. It covers the laws, regulations, and policies affecting federal guidance, while calling specific attention to recent changes for the issuing and use of public funding.

“We are pleased to offer this authoritative and accessible guide to grants management,” said NGMA Executive Director Shelly Slebrch. “The GMBoK Guide is designed to help practitioners more easily understand the grants lifecycle and the laws and regulations that govern it, thus, allowing them to spend more time on making a difference in their communities and nationwide.”

This detailed, available for purchase through NGMA, applies to grants management professionals representing federal agencies, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector. The GMBoK Guide will help grants professionals:

  • Master Governance for Grants and Cooperative Agreements
  • Navigate Federal Financial Assistance
  • Explore In-Depth the Five Phases of the Grants Management Lifecycle
  • Understand Audits
  • Understand Fraud, Waste, and Abuse
  • Understand Internal Controls

The GMBoK Guide is built upon authoritative federal standards and regulations, including 2 CFR Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance), the Government Accountability Office's (GAO's) Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book), and the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB’s) Circular A-123, Management’s Responsibility for Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Control.

“KGS is pleased to partner with NGMA to bring the GMBoK Guide to grants professionals,” said KGS Vice President Hussein Basaria. “Over the years in working with our federal government clients, we understood there was a real need for an easy to use resource that clarified the changing regulations within the grants industry, especially following the 2014 release of the Uniform Guidance. We believe the GMBoK Guide is that resource.”
