Multiple Amputee Trauma Trainer (MATT™)
The TraumaFX product line includes an end-state high fidelity lower body, Multiple Amputee Trauma Trainer (MATT™) that can be paired with a matching upper body, other existing training aids, or can be worn by human patient simulators or human actors to support realistic training for hemorrhage control and other critical injuries. The current upper body component includes matching realistic skin, weight and feel, a tension pneumothorax penetrating wound on the chest, and abdominal training elements. TraumaFX provides the most accurate trauma simulation to improve in-field medical treatment, as well as unparalleled stress inoculation training such that soldiers and medical personnel will be technically and emotionally prepared to deal with severe wounds.
Rugged Beyond Expectation
TraumaFX™ has undergone several successful user tests at the following facilities: Camp Lejeune, NC; Fort Indiantown Gap, PA; and Camp Bullis, TX. In addition, it has been used to train Navy Hospital Corpsmen, Navy Religious Personnel, Coast Guard Medical personnel, as well as Army Combat Lifesavers and 68W/91W Army Combat Medics. In all cases, users were highly impressed with the realism and usefulness of MATT.
Upcoming Add-ons
An added Hemostatic Agent Trainer capability is under development for the TraumaFX trainer. Also, a high-fidelity upper body prototype is in progress for use with the existing TraumaFX™ lower body component.
